i need help deciding...

im thinking of getting myself a new laptop... intended to trade my current baby in when i do get a new one but i might as well give this to my mum.

ANYWAY.
im unsure whether i want to get

WINDOWS
or
MAC.

main reason why i want windows is for SAI and OC. seriously. and maybe the msn LOL
but fucking viruses are making me get all scared.

or should i get some expensive ass Macbook and get parallel desktop in it? then i can have windows in it as well. somehow i find it a bit of a hassle having to systems in one eventhough that is an advantage.
and damn you have just gotta love mac for the whole no-viruses-shitting-up-your-pc .

well it is rather obvious the smarter choice would be macbook but shit why must they be so fucking pricey.

oh u hav the same problme i had!! welll.. i wanted a mac but theyre reaaaaaaaaaly expensive, and for the same price the pc u can get its alot better. i got myself a vaio just a few days ago, but im thinking of taking the windows off him and pimping him with linux or something. im not sure that all the aplications will work with it though >:< i would say thta it would be better if you bought a mac but if youre going to buy it buy a dam good one! cause theyre realy small >:< a with a good screen : ) or just buy a "windows" and then use it with an mac emulator : )

fushigi yuugi was one of my first favourites xDD
and ive watched ayashi no ceres as well... but meh didnt really get to me
zettai kareshi ive read like half way LOL
vampire knight... a friend recommended that to me but LOL i never went pass the first page cause i was all lazy and shit. i'll check it out properly one day xD

the story has been changed a little but its a good show
vampire knight is a great manga, you should read that one 8D is kinda confusing sometimes but oh well.. it has so many bishi-- err i mean, good drawings!

idk i've heard mac lacks several features and isn't quite compatible with other programs as well. Windows provides most basic of functions and is usually of a higher quality. but idk : O mac does look pretty sweet /D i have some random japanese company laptop lolol fjdakl ahahfdklaj /D (smiley)

I've been looking into getting a new laptop or desktop myself (smiley)

My University gives students their own laptop, so I have a IMB Thinkpad right now and the Art majors (dude I should have lied and said my major was Art instead of my minor) get the Macbooks. I've been told by so many people that the Macbooks are GOD. And it would be nice to have a laptop, but I really want a nice big screen :\

I'm probably going to go for a iMac 20" desktop. Because they're pretty and POWERFUL. And I really don't go anywhere with my laptop for art anyways. (smiley)

I have too many art things to lug around if I do that. OTL;;; So I'm in the same boat as you XD

I went online and tried to compare price and features with different companies to help me decide, and I figure its just easier to go with Mac. I'll just have to take some time getting used to the layout though. (last time I touched a Mac was back in high school for my Physics class)

well mac is spiffy and such. very professional but the down sides are stuff like you cant get certain software installed or games and such.
im seriously stressing too much over this LOL

That's true, but most of the important things can be found with an alternative Mac version. And if worse comes to worse I can always switch over to the "Windows" side xD lol

Now I gotta have one! 8E Looks like its official. I'm going to get an iMac 20"! OwO Any recommendations though? Is the 2GB RAM good or should I splurge and go all out on the 4GB RAM? (I have no clue, all I know is that my current laptop lags horribly (smiley)

omg that 'windows on mac' program f'd up my mac, and since the only apple store for miles is always too busy, they never fixed it (smiley)

ive always loved using windows, convenient in every way. just, whatever you do, don't get the vista (smiley)

It has so many virus protection junk, that it effs up itself (smiley)

you gotta approve to do everything.

anyway, i really think windows XP is the safest choice, fastest running i've ever encountered, and, as long as you put in at least one virus software, it doesn't encounter many virus problems, but this is just my experience, hope it helped x3~

I pondered over Macbook vs. Windows laptop earlier this year, as well, but now I've decided to go for Windows (though I'm buying it much later in the year). My reason is mainly the programs -- especially since I'm getting it for gaming as well ... we all know how Macs can't run MMOs, rofl. But anyway! I did consider the dual OS for Macbook, but from what I've seen, it really slows your machine down. Both my cousin and my friend have/had a Macbook with dual OS. My cousin's one was laggy on the Windows side (fine on Mac side), and my friend couldn't put up with the lag at all so she switched back to pure Mac. I'm guessing that lag would be considerably less if you make sure to have a lot of HD space (both cousin and friend had around 120GB) and RAM, but then you're watching the price shoot up.

(I'm by no means an expert on this ... I just thought I'd give you a heads up on what I've found out through experience. If someone knows better then by all means~) (smiley)

Both my cousin and my friend have/had a Macbook with dual OS. My cousin's one was laggy on the Windows side (fine on Mac side)

well i have a G5 at home with the whole dual OS. it wasnt parallel desktop but bootcamp or something like that xD;;; it worked rather smoothly but .. i guess maybe my uncle did his whole upgrading crap and such xD;;; oh well.
im not into MMOs anymore ( thank god ) so that doesnt really matter. xD
so i guess if i intend on getting a mac i'd need alot of freakin RAM OTL oh dear there goes my money.

the only thing about window that worries me are the viruses ): ive had bad experience of viruses screwing up my pc before this and it would crash and stuff even with 3 programs to scan viruses and spybots and such.

Well, the main reason Mac is so "yay I have no viruses (smiley)

" is because it only runs specific programs. You could say it was like, I dunno, some sort of party with VIP invites, whereas Windows lets all and sundry through the door. That's great when all you need are programs that Mac will run, but when a program will only run on Windows ... D/ Macbooks look really damn sexy, but when I think of compatibility/practicality ... well, I can get my Windows to look pretty sweet with some customising. ;)

I can't remember what my cousin's one was set up on, but my friend's was on bootcamp. But yeah, definitely with dual OS -- up the RAM, up the RAM. XD

well...depends on what ya want the laptop for. if art, I say Mac. Work, go with Windows. If both, heck get a Mac anywayz Xd they're spiffy lookin'.

And GOD YES get a DS 8D then get M3 Simply or R4. BEST FUCKING 200 BUCKS I SPENT IN MY LIFE 8D CHIKA YEH.

As for shojo, can't help. I dun read it much myself.. sick of it.

Well mac has alot more functions when accessing art Oxo .. Okay like, i don't know THAT much.. but in general the whole system is set up conveniently for art appliance usage like photshop and imageready etc... not that I actually use image ready (smiley)

;;; Also, it has a heck of alot of space on the drive and a faster system, so when you're workin' on ...say a large photoshop file, it'll prolly take half the time to load and save file in comparison to windows.
